Astarte is the Greek name of the Levantine goddess Athtart, a chief goddess in Canaan associated with fertility, sexuality, and war, and considered to be the deified evening star. At all times, Astarte is guarded by two lionesses, and she's symbolized by the lion, the horse, the sphinx, and the dove. While a fertility goddess, Astarte is associated with promiscuity and extramarital sex.
